Electricity: Iraq will import 500 megawatts from the Gulf states before next summer

The Ministry of Electricity announced that it will enter 500 megawatts into the national system before the coming summer season through an electrical interconnection project with the Gulf countries and through the State of Kuwait.
A spokesman for the Minister of Electricity, Haider Al-Abadi, said in an interview reported by Al-Sabah newspaper, that the ministry signed a contract with the Gulf Linkage Authority, which is affiliated with the Gulf Cooperation Council, to establish two power transmission lines, super pressure 400 (kV), provided that the Gulf Linkage Authority bear the cost Create the two lines.
He added that the two lines will be a length of 300 km, divided into two distances, inside Iraq with a length of 80 km, and inside the State of Kuwait with a length of 220 km, and they will be linked to the Iraqi national system through the Al-Faw transformative station 400 (CV) from one side, and they will be an extension of the main line of the Gulf link from The other side, and with the same technical specifications.
Al-Abadi indicated that the project will allow Iraq to import 500 megawatts, as a first stage, to be prepared after the completion of the two lines before the coming summer season, and at competitive Gulf market prices that will be differentiated after completion, noting that the agreement in its second stage includes the establishment of an exchange system for electric energy (constant current) (HVDC) , between Iraq and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Europe .
