US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed today, Tuesday, that his country will protect all its citizens in Iraq.

In a statement issued, US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagos stated that Pompeo made two separate phone calls to Abdul-Mahdi and Saleh, "where he clearly stressed that the United States will protect its citizens in Iraq to support its sovereignty and independence and will defend them."

Ortagos added that both Abdul-Mahdi and Saleh assured Pompeo that "they will seriously deal with their responsibility and guarantee the security and protection of American cadres and their properties" in Iraq.

These phone conversations come after the American embassy in Iraq broke out, since Tuesday morning, mass demonstrations in protest against the strikes launched by the United States, last Sunday, to the sites of "Hezbollah Brigades" in the borderlands of Iraq and Syria, which killed 25 people At least, according to the "Popular Mobilization".
