The Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Jenin Hennes Blaskhart, on Tuesday, revealed a number of facts about the protests in Iraq.

"Recalling those who fell and expressing our respect, their ideals and demands are still more alive today than ever before," she said in a speech to the Security Council.

"The government of Iraq has used excessive force to disperse some protests, and arrests, kidnappings, threats and smuggling are still taking place in Iraq."

"The killing of peaceful demonstrators in Iraq cannot be justified," the UN representative in Iraq said.

"Arrests, kidnappings, threats and smuggling are still taking place in Iraq," she said.
