The Iranian governor of Ilam, Qasem Soleimani Dashtaki, said Sunday that the Mehran border crossing would be reopened for pilgrims in Iraq.
 
The Iranian Fars news agency quoted the governor of Ilam as saying that it is now possible to cross from the border of Mehran.

Fares said that during the past period there was no possibility of visitors from Iran to Iraq because of "security precautions" in light of the existing conditions in Iraq, noting that the visits were not conducted by the Organization of Hajj and visit as well as by convoys outside the supervision of the organization, but was It is only open to Iraqi citizens to cross the land border.

Fars News Agency reported that the Iranian Hajj and Visiting Organization has not yet granted permission for the convoys to visit Iraq by road and that all visits are by air at present.
