Baghdad - News
The Iraqi Organization for Measuring the Quality of Communications said on Thursday that the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi has burdened the Iraqi citizen with 65 million dollars after blocking and disconnecting the internet service.
"Local indicators and reports indicate that imports exceeded $ 65 million for mobile operators that users have resorted to due to weak internet and the government's blocking of social networking sites," the group said in a report.
The report added, "These imports are a burden and burden on users who had to return to communication via mobile networks," noting that "this is part of the government corruption practiced by the Iraqi government in times of crisis."
Earlier this week, the organization said that "the government's continued blocking of WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter applications has negatively affected the income of Iraqis who are once again forced to adopt traditional means of communication via mobile phone companies.
"The government is well aware that blocking these applications can be broken, but this causes a weak Internet, so citizens have to connect via a SIM card, which costs a lot of money," the report said.
The organization pointed out that "mobile phone companies are pressing the Iraqi government in order not to lift the ban on applications, and this is another corruption practiced by the government with these companies."
