Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said the government is seeking to increase job opportunities and attract investment.

"Iraq is keen to establish the best relations with the United States and with its Arab and regional environment," Abdul-Mahdi said during a meeting with the US House of Representatives delegation headed by Democratic Representative in Washington and Chairman of the Armed Services Committee Adam Smith.

, Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, said Sunday, the government is continuing to reform the political and economic system and achieve the aspirations and demands of the Iraqi people.

The Speaker reviewed the political developments in the country, the legitimate demands of the demonstrators, the reform packages approved by the House of Representatives, the procedures related to the constitutional amendments and the electoral law, stressing the need to protect the demonstrators and not to attack the security forces, while maintaining peaceful demonstrations, and work on reforms To provide a decent life for the Iraqi people.

The meeting discussed relations between Baghdad and Washington, and the need to expand economic cooperation between the two countries, and the development of investment to achieve employment opportunities for youth employment.

Nechirvan Barzani stressed that the Kurdistan region looks with interest to his relations with the US Congress, according to a statement of the presidency of the Kurdistan region.

This came during a meeting with Barzani a US delegation from the US Congress headed by Democratic Congressman, Adam Smith, and the membership of three others.

He reiterated the thanks and appreciation of the Kurdistan Region to the United States of America, which supported the Kurdistan region in the war against terrorism and had a major role in defeating ISIS.

ARBIL (Kurdistan 24) - Democratic Representative and Chairman of the Armed Services Committee Adam Smith said that the Trump administration regrets its policies in Syria, noting that there are efforts to restore confidence in the Americans.

Smith's comments, on Monday, in a joint press conference with the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government Masroor Barzani in Erbil.

"We are against President Trump's policy in Syria and we voted in Congress against the resolution. America has always supported the Kurds," Smith said.

"The Trump administration is reviewing its policy in Syria and we are working to restore the confidence we have lost to the Americans," he said.

"I say it clearly ... President Trump is very wrong to say that our only goal is to protect the oil fields.

"What is important is that we continue to work with the SDF to make sure that ISIS does not come back," Smith said.

"Turkey is pushing and the Assad regime has returned to the region and we are trying to achieve a new Syria in which the Kurds will have a strong and important role," he said.

Barzani received in his office, on Monday, November 4, 2019, a high delegation of the US Congress led by member Adam Smith.

During the meeting, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, discussed the latest developments in the situation in Iraq and the region.

The delegation pointed out that the majority in the US Congress emphasizes the great support for the Kurds, and pointed out that everyone agreed on the importance of the Kurds as an ally in the region.

And renewed the US Congress by the visiting delegation, continuing to support the Kurdistan region, especially the Peshmerga forces at a time when the threats of ISIS did not end.
