The leader of the Sadrist movement Moqtada al-Sadr, Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi to hold early elections in Iraq under the supervision of the United Nations and a new electoral body.

Sadr said in a tweet, "Brother Adel Abdul Mahdi to come under the dome of parliament to announce early elections and under the supervision of the United Nations and legal periods not long."

"During this period, all necessary measures will be taken to change the electoral commission and its law and present it to the people. We also call for early elections without the participation of the current parties, except from the consent of the people."

The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, on Monday, the killing of five demonstrators in the capital Baghdad, as Iraqi officials confirmed 100 wounded in clashes with police forces in central Baghdad, after thousands of students flocked to the streets.

Iraqi security forces also fired tear gas at school and university students who defied the prime minister's warnings and took part in today's protests.

Videos posted on social media showed security forces firing tear gas at students in a Baghdad neighborhood as protests spread to other pockets of the capital. Other recordings also showed a group of female students running and screaming.

Students in five other provinces, mostly in the south, joined the protests, with students in Karbala and Basra stating their voices against corruption and the Iraqi government, shouting "in the spirit of blood we will benefit you, Iraq."

Thousands of all colleges and schools gathered in Maysan province opposite the governorate building.

Earlier on Monday, the Baghdad Operations Command called on faculty and parents not to throw students in the demonstration yards, after thousands of students from different universities and schools took to the streets to demonstrate for the fourth day in a row.
