Parliament member Mohammed al-Karbouli questioned on Thursday whether the government had lost sight of the opinion of the international community when it narrowed the freedom of opinion and chased the media.

Karbouli said in a tweet on his Twitter account: "In the interest of those who lose Iraq membership in the Human Rights Council of the United Nations ??".

He added: "Did the government consider the views of the international community when it narrowed the freedom of opinion and chased the media and arrested activists and assassinated their free speech."
