Iraqi President Barham Saleh on Monday urged the defense and interior ministers to comply with orders issued by the General Command to prevent the use of live bullets and means of violence against demonstrators.

Dozens of demonstrators have been killed since protests against corruption and a deteriorating standard of living last Tuesday.

The government and security services accused unidentified snipers of targeting protesters and security personnel alike, without revealing the identity of these snipers.

The Supreme Judicial Council in Iraq, on Monday, the need to prosecute those who attacked the demonstrators.

The Supreme Judicial Council also pledged to take legal action against the aggressors of the offices of media channels.

And acknowledged the Iraqi military leadership, on Monday, "excessive use of force" during clashes with protesters in Sadr City, a predominantly Shiite east of Baghdad, killing 15 people, according to security and medical sources.

Faleh al-Fayyad, Iraq's national security adviser, said on Monday the investigation would prove who was behind the killings and violence, adding: "We will not allow anyone to tamper with the security of our people."
