Hundreds of foreign, local companies participate in 13th Erbil Trade Fair

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Monday highlighted the Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) priorities in boosting trade and economy in the region.
Prime Minister Barzani’s speech came during the opening of 13th Erbil International Trade Fair.
“I am delighted that we are all gathered here today for this important event,” he said. “I hope this event is the first step to increasing trade between the Kurdistan Region and the rest of the world.”
The Kurdish leader underlined the significance of the exhibition, which included over 300 companies from 24 different countries around the world.
He emphasized the KRG’s agenda to bolster and diversify the Kurdistan Region’s economy and hoped the fair would be an opportunity to strengthen relations between local and foreign businesses.

Many local and foreign officials, as well as businesspersons and investors from the Kurdistan Region and abroad, attended the event.
Prime Minister Barzani affirmed the autonomous Kurdish government’s commitment to support and facilitate foreign and local investors and entrepreneurs who want to invest in the Kurdistan Region.
He also updated the attendees on the government’s progress on financial reform and economic diversification. Barzani noted that the Kurdistan Region is open to investors from across the globe and wants to become an international trade center in the region.

Handal International Group participated in the Erbil International Fair, along with 300 international companies amid praise by the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government who visited its stand for Iraqi development.

"Handal International Group participated in the Erbil International Fair and showed its real estate development projects in Baghdad, Kirkuk and other cities," said Wadih Al Handal, head of Handal International Group.

"Al-Handal Group's strategy is to alleviate the housing crisis through the housing projects it is currently working on," he said.

On the other hand, the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government Masrour Barzani, the importance of activating laws and decisions that would facilitate the work of traders and investors, especially with regard to the registration of companies in the region.

Barzani said in his speech during the opening of the comprehensive international trade fair in Erbil, "We have given in our government program of great importance to the development of the economy in the Kurdistan Region, and I hope this exhibition will be a prelude to the integration of traders, investors and capital owners from inside and outside the Kurdistan region, in order not to rely on the source One income in import insurance. "

He added, "We will make every effort to provide the necessary facilities (for investors and businessmen), and work to make the Kurdistan region a center of trade in the region."
He praised the provincial government wing Alhandal International Group as it represents a real model for the promising private sector.

Polish Businesses Interested in Partnership with Kurdistan

ERBIL — Several Polish companies from different sectors are in Erbil to accompany the Polish National Chamber of Commerce and explore greater economic ties with the autonomous region.

At the invitation of Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Representation office in Poland, 12 entrepreneurs representing eight Polish companies have joined the Erbil International Fair which was opened on 29th September by Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.

Danuta Sojka-Andrzejewska, Consular to Poland’s Ministry of Eaterpionership and Technology, told BasNews at the Polish Stand that different business, from energy, food, and machinery to agriculture and ICT, are in Erbil to establish partnerships with the Kurdish companies.

She explained that the initiative is the first of its kind, and that they are waiting for Kurdish businesses to visit Poland and establish the partnership in the nearest future.

It is also planned to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Chamber of Commerce and Kurdistan Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KFCCI) while in Kurdistan.

Ziyad Raoof, the KRG representative to Poland, is accompanying the delegation and is organizing a series of high-rank meetings for the Polish delegates.
