President of the House of Representatives Mohammed Halbousi, Monday, that the relationship between Iraq and Saudi Arabia has witnessed an unprecedented development in the past years, stressing that it reflects a common will between the leaderships of the two countries.


"The Speaker of the Council of Representatives attended, on Monday, with a number of deputies a ceremony held by the Saudi Embassy in Baghdad on the occasion of the 89th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," the office said in a statement received by Alsumaria News.





 
The statement quoted al-Halbousi, referring to the "depth of fraternal ties that bind Iraq and the Kingdom, and the desire to continue and increase their frequency to serve the common Arab and Islamic interests, and enhances the stability and security of the region," calling for "everyone seeks peace and calm; to defuse the crisis and remove the specter of war. Iraqi Trade Minister Mohammed Hashim al-Ani said Baghdad seeks to achieve better relations with Saudi Arabia and more cooperation between the two countries, calling on Saudi companies to participate in the reconstruction phase after the approval of the reconstruction board project .

The Minister of Commerce, that Iraq today seeks to better relations with neighboring Saudi Arabia based on brotherhood and love between the two brotherly peoples and respect for the common interests of the two countries.


He pointed out that this was demonstrated by the signing of partnership agreements in the economic, political and security fields through the Joint Coordination Committee and the exchange of visits between official delegations, and the re-opening of the embassy in Baghdad, .


The minister said that the convening of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council in Baghdad and the visit of Saudi delegations to Iraq after a break of 27 years, represents a new phase of relations, Iraq is the strategic depth of the Kingdom as the Kingdom of the strategic depth of Iraq.


He added: The re-opening of the Arar border crossing will be "a candle light" in the history of the two countries, because of its great importance on the economic, social and political fields and the exchange of goods and people between the two sides.

ACWA Power, a Saudi company specializing in the development and operation of power generation and water desalination plants, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Iraq Energy Institute.

"The memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation frameworks in research development projects and strengthen capacity building programs, which will contribute to the optimal development of the energy sector in the Republic of Iraq," ACWA Power said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The MoU is a bridge to further alliances between ACWA Power and Iraq's energy players," said ACWA Power chairman.

"The MoU marks a solid start to a productive and mutually beneficial relationship based on knowledge sharing and optimal energy utilization between Saudi Arabia and Iraq," Mohammed Abunayyan added.

The MoU includes the commitment of ACWA Power and the Iraq Energy Institute to participate in the events of both parties, workshops and activities, as well as the exchange of experiences of consultants and senior management teams in events and forums.

The partnership facilitates technical dialogues and knowledge exchanges with a view to devising solutions to the challenges facing the region in the energy and water sectors, and to improve the investor community between the public and private sectors in Iraq.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Yasar Al-Maliki, Director General of the Iraq Energy Institute, and Mohammed Fata Nahhas, Director of Business Development at ACWA Power.
