Biden in the debate of Democratic presidential candidates: some admit the mistake of supporting the war on Iraq

Washington - “Liberation Squares”

More than 16 years after the US-led invasion of Iraq, former Vice President Joe Biden is still struggling to explain why he voted for the war and when his feelings for intervention evolved.
On Thursday night, the third Democratic debate among the party's candidates for the presidential race, held in Houston, Biden said that "he should not have voted to give Bush [the president] the power to invade and do what he said he would do."

Biden, a former Delaware senator, was referring to his October 2002 vote in the US Senate for permission to use military force against Iraq. It was a deliberate attempt to clarify his record after receiving criticism recently for misunderstanding his opposition to his pro-war stance.
Biden said he had argued since the start of the war that the United States was engaged in Iraq the wrong way: "There was no plan and no support from allies."

Although Biden voted in favor of authorizing the use of military force against Iraq, he says he was misled by the George W. Bush administration.

But Bush's office denied Biden's account of events.

It is known that Babden was the owner of the idea of dividing Iraq into three cantons in 2007.
