Iraq sets the middle of 2022 to stop the burning of gas associated with production

The South Gas Company said that Iraq will finish burning the gas associated with production in mid-2022.
According to the government daily Al-Sabah, the Director General of the South Gas in the Ministry of Oil, Hayyan Abdul Ghani, that "planned during the next three years to reach the investment of gas to more than one billion and 600 million cubic feet, either in the licensing round or direct investment."
"The ministry aims to get rid of the gas flaring phenomenon in mid-2020 and equip the power plants with gas, in addition to supplying petrochemical companies with natural gas as a raw material for the production of plastic granules and fertilizers," he added.
Oil Minister Thamer Ghadhban said four projects were underway to help convert 1.2 billion cubic feet of associated gas into liquids to significantly reduce flaring.
