, (SANA) - Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim on Tuesday stressed the importance of urging countries to fulfill their commitments made at the conference on the reconstruction of Iraq in Kuwait.

A statement issued by the Foreign Ministry received 'orbit', a copy of it, that 'Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim discussed with Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, the overall political and security situation in Iraq and the region'.

Cairo - Mubasher: The Council of the League of Arab States, at its 152nd Ordinary Session, held in Cairo yesterday, adopted a resolution establishing the Arab Council for Population and Development and adopting its statute.

The Arab League said in a statement issued on Thursday that the decision comes in support of joint Arab action in the field of population to respond to the challenges witnessed by Arab countries and the unprecedented living and demographic conditions experienced by many Arab countries, which has a significant impact on the dynamics of the population and thus necessarily affect Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, Head of the Social Affairs Sector, Ambassador Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh, said that the newly created Council would follow the Economic and Social Council.

Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh said that it aims to institutionalize Arab action on population issues to conform to the international context and corresponds to the United Nations Commission on Population and Development and unify the Arab position on population issues at the regional and international levels.

She added that the council aims to support Arab countries to establish national councils and committees for population, as well as assist them in formulating national population strategies commensurate with their national needs. .

This comes at a time when the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, praised the management of Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali al-Hakim for the meeting of the League Council in its 152nd session, indicating that the meeting unanimously voted, for the first time, on all decisions issued by the League Council, including condemnation Israeli assaults on Arab countries and its declaration of annexation of part of the West Bank to the sovereignty of the Zionist occupation, declaring satisfaction for the presidency of Iraq for the current session, while stressing that he saw a "new Iraq" during his last visit and that security is stable and removed barriers and citizens are satisfied and there is a political consensus between the presidencies three.
 

The rights of the Palestinian people



The speech of the Foreign Minister, at the opening of the first session of the Ministerial Council's 152nd ordinary session at the level of foreign ministers, according to a statement received by the Ministry, "morning", to address the latest developments in the Arab region, including: Iraq urged Arab and regional countries and the international community to support the government The new Sudanese to stabilize and maintain the unity of Sudan.

Minister Hakim affirmed Iraq 's rejection of the Turkish military presence on Iraqi soil and is working to end it by all means. Supporting international and regional efforts aimed at achieving peace and stability, preserving the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Arab countries, and returning the displaced and displaced persons to their homes.
 

Membership of Syria



Al-Hakim called on Syria to regain its membership in the Arab League.



In his speech, al-Hakim condemned the Israeli occupation attacks on some Arab countries and affirmed their right to self-defense against these blatant attacks, in the belief of the principles of the Arab League and the Arab solidarity charter, which stressed the opposition to conspiracies that threaten the security and stability of Arab countries.



Al-Hakim expressed Iraq's keenness during his presidency of the Council of the League of Arab States to promote the reality of joint Arab action through communication and constant consultation with Arab foreign ministers and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, to work to advance the pace of Arab action, in a manner that contributes to alleviate the effects of crises in our region And to achieve the aspirations of our peoples towards progress and prosperity.



In a statement singled out by Al-Sabah, the Foreign Minister explained Iraq's call for Syria's return to the Arab League. He said that Iraq did not agree to suspend Syria's membership from the outset, pointing out that Syria is not only a founding state of the Arab League, but an axis of the Arab world. Essential in the Arab world, he stressed that weakening Syria is a weakening of the Arab world.



"We expect in the next six months to strengthen the Iraqi position to return Syria to its seat," Hakim said, adding that there are countries that support this position. "We believe in the unity of Syria and its territorial integrity and the departure of all foreign forces from Syria and that the Syrians govern themselves."



Al-Hakim pointed out that the meeting discussed developments in a number of Arab countries, including Syria, Yemen and Libya, and took appropriate decisions on them, pointing out that the meeting dealt with the security of navigation and energy supplies in the Arabian Gulf and stressed the need to protect the security of this vital region and the need not to stop and supply energy.
 

Eliminating terrorism



The foreign minister said Iraq is grateful for helping Arab countries eliminate ISIS, especially militarily, but intellectually still exists and needs to be confronted at the intellectual level.

As for the position on Turkey, the Foreign Minister pointed out that Baghdad is in constant contact with Turkey, about the presence of its troops in Iraqi territory, noting that the Turks are aware of the sensitivity of this matter.



In fact, we are in constant contact, at the level of foreign ministers, defense and intelligence in this area, and the Turkish brothers know the sensitivity of the region and its importance, we also know the seriousness and positions of the organization (PKKA), and we also have a fruitful Iraqi effort in this aspect with the Turks.



He added that Iraq fought terrorism on behalf of everyone, and defeated it, but it is still on our border with Syria, adding that we will help our Syrian brothers to seize the terrorist gangs there.



On the sidelines of the meeting, Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali al-Hakim met with his Arab counterparts, including Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. The meeting witnessed an agreement to hold a meeting of the Iraqi-Egyptian committee in Baghdad under the chairmanship of the prime ministers of the two countries. Condemn Israeli violations



He said that the Republic of Iraq has submitted a resolution condemning the Israeli attacks on Arab countries, pointing out that if the implementation of Israeli intentions to annex part of the West Bank to Israeli sovereignty, the Arabs can resort to the Security Council.
