In collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) planning a workshop to monitor and report on selected indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals

Under the auspices of the Minister of Planning, Dr. Nuri Sabah Al-Dulaimi, the Ministry of Planning, in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is convening the founding workshop of FAO with the Government of Iraq in monitoring and reporting on selected indicators of the Sustainable Development Goals and to clarify the technical support provided by the United Nations Monitoring and reporting the SDGs under its mandate and for Iraq in particular in monitoring the selected indicators in addition to the statement of approval of specific targets and results for 2019, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Technical Affairs from the Ministry of Planning Dr. Maher Hammad Johan and project manager at FAO, René Verdouin, in addition to statistics from the regional office, Ms. Nancy Jean, FAO's program assistant from the Ministry of Planning, Ms. Aseel Nazim Abdel Hamid, as well as a number of general managers from the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Finance.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the Minister of Planning Dr. Nuri Sabah Al-Dulaimi during a workshop held by the ministry in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) on indicators of sustainable development goals, the ministry adopted a trend to exchange knowledge and experiences with international organizations in order to support the sustainable development process, through work. Integrated Government-to-Government monitoring and implementation of the 2030 Agenda, stressing that it was the forerunner of several local and international partnerships, most notably the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), ESCWA, the World Bank, Habitat and other organizations. For their contribution to the active role in advancing sustainable development in Iraq according to the objectives, missions and roles.

Abdul Zahra al-Hindawi, spokesman for the Ministry of Planning and Director of Information and Government Communication, said that the Ministry of Planning has completed the preparation and development of the Iraqi vision for sustainable development until 2030 This vision certainly includes the work to localize and achieve the 17 goals of sustainable development taken by the international community within its agenda for 2030. Iraq has chosen a set of these goals, foremost of which is the eradication of hunger and poverty, as well as the protection of the environment and water as well as other priority objectives, indicating that these goals and agenda were prepared in cooperation with many bodies at the national and international levels. United Nations organizations , which was an active partner in the preparation of the vision UNDP United Nations Aleo said de - Paix, FAO, UNESCO, ESCWA and the Organization of food as it contributed to these organizations and participated in the support of the Ministry of Planning 's efforts to prepare the vision of Iraq , and then work to achieve these goals,  

represented by the Ministry of Agriculture 

For her part, Ms. Maha Hisham Omar, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the Ministry of Agriculture is keen to achieve the relevant objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, has established the Division of Sustainable Development within the structure of the Department of Planning and Follow-up / Department of Agricultural Studies and Policies, which is responsible for the follow-up of the implementation of sustainable development goals related to these Monitoring progress on these goals, as well as calculating indicators and targets for sustainable development relevant to this ministry under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) She added that the intended purpose of this workshop is to eliminate hunger and ensure access to all, especially the poor and vulnerable groups.
