The International Cooperation Department is holding a joint meeting with the German Ministry of Development's mission to discuss expanding their work in Iraq

The International Cooperation Department, headed by its Director-General, Dr. Dham Al-Azzawi, held a joint meeting with the German Ministry of Development. The mission included Mr. Andreas, Mr. Wasser from the Giz headquarters, Mr. Da Vinci from the Employment Promotion Department, and Ms. Shank from the specialized team Giz with Mr. Iba Hart specializes in transformational assistance and Mr. Hassan translator with the members of the mission and Ms. Shahba Ghassan Al-Abtan and Mr. Ali Abdul Amir of the Department of International Relations.


 The Director General of the Department said that the delegation discussed with the German delegation their activities in Iraq and the possibility of expanding the scope of work of GIZ in the coming years to include all the Iraqi provinces. The delegation said that their work is currently in assessing the needs of Anbar province and considering the possibility of providing the necessary support for rehabilitation of infrastructure "The priorities of this mission are concentrated on three axes: - (productive structures, promotion of jobs and livelihoods, peaceful coexistence).


 As they indicated the possibility of future selection to work with the rest of the Iraqi provinces and after their return will provide an assessment report on the collected information from Anbar province to the German Ministry of Development to express their opinion on the subject of technical support for the province and the possibility of opening a branch of GIZ there. He explained that the work of the delegation not only focus on the infrastructure of the province, but also work to develop and encourage the private sector and the public and the agricultural and industrial and other sectors, 

The delegation is currently working on the preparation of an illustrative study for all sectors. Al-Azzawi said that the Ministry of Planning has a clear road map for the needs of the province of infrastructure reconstruction and economic development, especially in agriculture and industry as well as the private sector. 

A telephone call was also made with the technical agent of Anbar province governor Mustafa Al-Urasan and Dr. Khalid Batal, the president of Anbar University, for the purpose of preparing a joint meeting with the German delegation and with the participation of many officials in the province so that they can see the agricultural reality first, as stated in their request. Al-Azzawi pointed out that my visit to the city of Falluja three months ago explained to them that there are several things that the city needs from infrastructure, reconstruction and services in the field of health, education, housing, sewage system, schools and universities, and they need more buildings and training courses.
