A Turkish newspaper revealed that the egg production sector in the country is on the verge of bankruptcy, against the backdrop of the suspension of exports to Iraq for about two months.

The website of the Turkish newspaper Time Turk reported that the suspension of Iraq's import of Turkish eggs last May had a major impact on the country's largest egg producers.

He pointed out that Turkey, which produces about 22 billion eggs annually, exports the largest share to Iraq, pointing out that the suspension of export to Iraq has prompted many egg producers to the execution of more than one million chickens after having to sell at a loss or without gain.

He pointed out that Turkish egg producers are waiting for radical solutions from the government, especially after the Minister of Commerce sent them a letter in which they recently urged them not to send poultry to massacres for slaughter.

Ismail Serachoglu, president of the Association of Egg Producers, stressed in a statement quoted by the newspaper that the Turkish government is seeking to find alternative markets to absorb the large quantities of eggs produced by the country, pointing out that the producers suffered greatly because of the export moratorium to Iraq.

He continued: "One hen cost the product loss of 2500 pounds per month cost of feed only, meaning that the product, which has 100 thousand chickens, the loss of 250 thousand pounds per month."

He pointed out that the Turkish banks do not consider positively the idea of financing workers in this sector to be included in the "dangerous" for their inability to sell their production, and therefore will not have the ability to fill any loans they receive.
