The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Iraqi figures it said were involved in human rights abuses and corruption.

The sanctions included Ryan Chaldean, leader of the popular Babylon faction, and Qado, the leader of an armed faction of the Shabak in the Nineveh Plain, as well as Nawfal al-Aakoub, the former governor of Nineveh.

US sanctions also included Ahmed al-Jubouri, head of the Axis alliance and former Salahuddin governor.

The United States on Tuesday announced details of its sanctions against the four Iraqis covered by the US Treasury Department's decision.


"The United States has taken action against four individuals in Iraq who are involved in corruption or human rights violations," the US embassy in Iraq said in a statement.
 
"These sanctions include a ban on communication with US financial institutions, a ban on the ability to deal with US companies, or visas to visit the United States," she said.





 
"These steps demonstrate our commitment to working with the Iraqi government and all Iraqis against corruption and human rights abuses committed by government officials," she said. "We will continue to hold accountable individuals involved in human rights abuses, including persecution of religious minorities and corrupt officials who use their positions to fill their pockets with money. And the monopoly of power in their favor at the expense of their citizens. "
 
On July 18, the US Treasury Department announced sanctions on four Iraqi figures - Ahmed al-Jubouri, Rayyan al-Chaldani, Nawfal al-Aqoub and Abu Jaafar al-Hatti.

The document issued yesterday, signed by Munther Abdul Qadir al-Sheikhli, deputy governor of the agency.

The US Treasury Department on Thursday imposed sanctions on four Iraqis, who said they were involved in human rights abuses and corruption cases, in a fourth step aimed at Iraqi individuals in less than a year.

The head of the Finance Committee in the Iraqi parliament Haitham al-Jubouri, leaks about the inclusion of 67 new Iraqi political figures with US sanctions, pointing to the fact that there is an American intention to issue other lists of sanctions.

The US administration confirmed yesterday that it would continue to impose sanctions on Iraqi governments that it said were involved in human rights abuses, including persecution of religious minorities and corrupt officials who took power in their favor at the expense of their citizens.

The official position of the government represented by Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi last Tuesday, who said he was informed about the subject of US sanctions on some Iraqi personalities.

"

He added that "some of the deputies of the Fatah Alliance began a campaign to collect signatures on this matter," noting that "the presence of another team within the Security Committee and the rest of the components of Parliament, calling for the wait and demand Washington to provide evidence on any person imposed sanctions.

the Iraqis do not have the balls since they all are corrupt. as far as I am concerned put scantions on them let them learn the hard way back to square one since they are too stupid to learn from their mistakes
