Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohammed Halbusi, on Saturday, in the presence of a number of leaders of political blocs and heads of parliamentary committees, representatives of the States members of the Security Council in the first visit to Iraq.

"He welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed his appreciation for this visit, which shows the support of the UN Security Council and its interest in Iraq, after the Iraqis achieved their decisive victory on terrorism on behalf of the world," said a statement issued by Halabousi.

He expressed "Iraq's appreciation for the efforts of the international community, which has supported the Iraqi people in their war on terrorism or assistance in the file of displacement and the restoration of stability, in the hope of continued support and fulfillment of international obligations towards Iraq.

Al Halbusi reviewed "the efforts of the House of Representatives to pass important laws affecting the lives of citizens, stressing that the Council looks forward to enact laws that reflect positively on the lives of citizens through reform programs, combating corruption and reducing poverty and giving disadvantaged classes greater care, as well as addressing the consequences of terrorism "He said.

"The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the international and regional situation, the crises in the region and the need for joint action to end these tensions and maintain regional stability through constructive dialogue and peaceful means," the statement said.

For their part, the members of the Security Council congratulated the Iraqis for their victory over terrorism, calling their visit historic, and it is a clear signal of support for Iraq's unity and sovereignty and its efforts to restore stability and development. The visiting delegation praised the important role of the House of Representatives in the political process in Iraq, To resolve the crises of the region and to open up to the Arab and international environment.
