The government on Friday expressed regret over the abuse of the Bahraini embassy in Baghdad, saying the government was serious about preventing breaches of the law.

"The government expresses its deep regret that a number of demonstrators stormed the building of the embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain yesterday evening and carried out subversive acts contrary to the law and the authority of the state and the immunity of diplomatic missions," the office of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said in a statement received by " .

He added that "all security services have taken firm and immediate measures to remove them from the embassy as well as to restore order and provide the necessary protection and arrest the culprits in preparation for submission to the judiciary."

"The Iraqi government is serious about preventing violations of the law and will never tolerate such acts," he said. "The government absolutely rejects any action that threatens diplomatic missions, security, safety and safety of those who work there."

A group of demonstrators stormed the Bahraini embassy in Baghdad because of their objections to its policy towards the Palestinian cause, causing security intervention and the arrest of 54 protesters on Thursday night.
