The Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, Nikki Rikani, directed the transfer of part of the activities of the Ministry's companies for the production of construction materials to contribute to the reconstruction of the liberated areas and the operation of unemployment within a project coordinated with the World Bank to be converted into commercial.



In a statement to Al-Sabah, Undersecretary Dara Hassan Rasheed said in a statement that the ministry, in coordination with the World Bank and the Council of Counselors in the Cabinet, has restructured the companies of the ministry: Saad, Mansour, Farouk, Ashour, Hamorabi, State-owned enterprises into commercial.



He added that his ministry completed the restructuring and formed the Business Development Center to absorb the excess staff from the need of these companies and transfer some of them to the departments of the State to benefit from their expertise according to the terms of reference, adding that the second phase includes the start of procedures to convert them into commercial companies.



He explained that the World Bank is holding continuous meetings with his ministry to discuss mechanisms to change the status of these companies, as a committee was set up to study this and to determine that the companies are a contribution or private sector 100 per cent according to their financial situation and determine the return of machines and equipment and machinery belonging to them.



He added that his ministry proposed to the World Bank to develop a plan of action to determine the dates and mechanisms to ensure the correct and accurate work and avoid bureaucracy, while now waiting for the mechanisms and controls of the Council of Ministers in this area, and his ministry is coordinating directly with the World Bank to map a way for those companies that have great achievements in campaigns Reconstruction, as the project will contribute to the development of mechanisms and tools of production in the areas of housing, bridges and roads.



The minister directed the transfer of part of the activity of companies to produce construction materials to contribute to the reconstruction of liberated areas and the operation of unemployment, especially that it completed several projects in Anbar, Nineveh and Salahuddin, and contributed to the restoration of bridges and buildings, in addition to allowing those companies to establish exhibitions to put materials on Citizens to help them get the most favorable prices, noting that the next stage, will see an important role for the private sector to enter the market strongly and in line with the policy of the state in revitalization.



He pointed out that the World Bank has a big role in financing some projects of roads, bridges, water, sewerage and electricity, either through the ministry or the reconstruction fund, and they have teams working in different fields, especially the Buildings Department, as it is agreed with them to rebuild health centers. The Department works to prepare tender papers for projects related to roads and bridges, financed by the World Bank and referred to government or state-owned companies or private sector companies.
