The former water resources minister Mohsen al-Shammari said on Monday that water in Iraq, like money, is being wasted in a frightening way.

Shammari said in a statement to the twilight news that "Iraq is far from the global foot in the way of water management," noting that "the Ministry of Water Resources does not have real plans to deal with water."

He added that "there are employees in the Ministry of Water Resources translate the policy of parties and components in the drain of public money," noting that "there is no social justice in Iraq and the political system works in his favor."

Shammari said that "the decision in Iraq, however, foreign parties looking for their interest and not the hand of the government," pointing out that "the billion dinars allocated to combat desertification in Iraq in 2019 was stolen."
