The General Council of Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions, the official umbrella of Islamic financial institutions, launched in Istanbul today a technical workshop on stress testing for Islamic financial institutions to discuss the main applications and trends that support stress testing, Potential. 

The three-day workshop opened with a welcoming speech by the Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs of the General Council, Zeinab Al Owainati, and the Banking Specialist of the Central Bank of Turkey, Erda Tekirdag. The participants from Bahrain, Sudan, Libya, Ghana, Ethiopia, the United States, Kuwait and Turkey represent the most important Islamic banks and financial institutions in the region, as well as a number of regulatory and supervisory authorities.

The workshop dealt with a number of practical cases and exchange of experiences by speakers with extensive experience in this area from the International Monetary Fund of the United States of America and the Turkish Agency for Monitoring and Regulation of Banking. The various techniques of stress testing and its role in risk management and capital . 

"We are pleased to organize the technical workshop on stress testing for Islamic financial institutions in cooperation with the Istanbul Islamic Banking School of the Central Bank of Turkey," said General Secretary General AbdulAlla Belaitiq.

The initiative is part of the General Strategic Plan of the General Council for the period 2019-2022 and falls under the third strategic objective of vocational rehabilitation and empowerment. It aims to enhance the skills of human resources in the Islamic financial industry. Due to the changes in economic conditions, Finance is one of the most effective strategies in risk management, noting that the workshop seeks to enhance the participants' understanding of the stress test and to guide them on how to apply the practical conditions of stress testing.

It is worth mentioning that the implementation of this workshop comes under the outputs of the third strategic objective of vocational rehabilitation and empowerment, through which the General Council seeks to develop professional capabilities and qualify human resources in the Islamic financial services industry. Supports the growth and development of human resources and brings together industry professionals to enrich dialogue and promote knowledge sharing on important issues in the industry.
