Governor of Nineveh: start work in oil fields south of Mosul next week

The governor of Nineveh Mansour al-Maraid said the entry of oil companies to the city of Mosul, in the area of Qayyarah specifically, to start work, which was agreed in the oil fields south of Mosul (center of Nineveh).
The 50-well Qayara field was extensively vandalized by a pre-emptive organization. The organization burned 34 wells before Iraqi forces advance to liberate the area in 2016.

Reserves of the two fields are estimated at more than one billion barrels of oil.
In October 2018, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced that it had signed a contract with the oil company Sonangol, owned by the Government of Angola, to dig 10 wells in the Qayara oil field in Nineveh province.
In September 2018, the ministry confirmed the resumption of oil production from the Qayara field, at the rate of 30 thousand barrels per day, and start exporting for the first time in its history.
