Global food delivery revenues are expected to grow by more than 40% over the next four years, exceeding $ 134 billion in 2023.
In the Gulf, entrepreneurs see promising opportunities in this sector, especially in developing markets such as Baghdad, which has high growth opportunities and low competition.
"The time is right for entrepreneurs to start their projects in Iraq. The market is ready and big and companies need to take the lead, especially as it is a lucrative market and is witnessing continuous growth," said Bassam Al Attiyah, founder of Alasri.
"We currently have 6,000 calls per month, and we are growing at about 20 per cent per month. The job market in Iraq has changed in the last year. Baghdad is a busy city and needs delivery services in general," he said.
"We face some challenges, such as the interruption of services, but they are constantly improving, in addition to cash payments," he said. "Only 30 percent of Iraqis have a bank account. The work is dependent on bicycles and we have difficulty obtaining licenses. Where the license is equivalent to the cost of buying a motorcycle from the agent. "
