Economy News Baghdad
TEHRAN (Reuters) - The Iranian government plans to start a rail link project between the Iranian border region of Shalmaja and Basra after Eid al-Fitr, the official IRNA news agency reported.
"The identification of the contractor and the employment of the Pinnad Foundation are under investment in this strategic project."
Iran has built a 19-kilometer railway in 2011 between the Shalmaja and Khrummshahr (south-west) regions, which in turn link the public rail network, which requires delivery of the Shalmaja area in Basra through the construction of a 32-km coastline, according to the agency.
"The railway will be 32 kilometers between Shalmaja and Basra as well as the construction of a bridge on the Arund River, 800 meters long for the crossing of the train. The rail link between Iran, Iraq and the eastern Mediterranean countries will be achieved, which will represent a major transformation in the transit and exchange of goods And passenger transport. "
"The cost of constructing the railway between Shalmaja and Basra is 150 billion riyals ($ 42,000) and will be built within two years," the agency said.
