Baghdad


A three-way meeting between President Barham Salih, Jordan's King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was held at the Basman Royal Palace in Amman on Thursday.
The meeting, which was attended by Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, focused on the depth of brotherly and historical relations between Jordan and Iraq and the latest regional developments. According to the presidential statement.
The meeting dealt with the Palestinian issue and stressed the need to support Palestinian brothers in achieving their legitimate rights and establishing their independent state on the lines of June 4, 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The Iraqi president and the Palestinian president stressed the importance of the Hashemite guardianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, valuing the historical and religious role played by Jordan under the king's leadership in the protection of holy sites.
The meeting also focused on the importance of triangular economic cooperation and integration, especially in the areas of water, energy, transportation, culture and exchange of medical expertise.
It was also stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultation on various issues, in order to serve Arab issues and enhance security and stability in the region.
The three leaders stressed the need to promote joint Arab action and unite positions to overcome the challenges and crises facing the Arab nation.
The King of Jordan held a banquet in honor of the Iraqi President and the Palestinian President, attended by senior officials of the three countries.
