Economy News _ Baghdad

The Kurdistan Regional Government confirmed on Monday that it is committed, in principle, to the delivery of 250 thousand barrels of oil per day to the federal government in Baghdad and according to the provisions of the budget law for the current year.
"There is, in principle, no problem with the delivery of that rate of production to Baghdad," Kurdish media quoted government spokesman Sven Dziyi as saying. "There are a number of other issues to be addressed, such as the fact that the Kurdistan Region has contracts from oil companies Which has investments in the region estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.
"If that rate of oil production was delivered to Baghdad, who would pay the financial dues to these companies? Is the Iraqi government, "noting that" this last issue needs a meeting between Erbil and Baghdad, which so far has not been held. "
The spokesman for the Kurdistan Regional Government, that "the Kurdistan region has expressed a willingness formally and a year ago to begin dialogues to resolve differences and outstanding issues between Arbil and Baghdad."
