Iraq's accession to the European Union for Road Transport (TIR).

"Minister Abdullah Luaibi presided over an expanded meeting to discuss Iraq's accession to the Road Transport Agreement (TIR), in the presence of EU Secretary-General for Road Transport Emperto de Perto and his accompanying delegation and a number of relevant bodies," the ministry said in a statement.

The statement quoted the minister; "After the accession of Iraq to this agreement will be an integrated system of electronic link through which we can prevent manipulation by transport companies," noting that "this agreement requires the establishment of rapid corridors at the border crossings for easy entry and exit trucks marked with (TIR) ".

He pointed out "the importance of raising the efficiency of the ministry's staff through the exchange of experience with the European side to work on the TIR system". He pointed out "Iraq's keenness to join the international agreement to strengthen trade ties with neighboring countries and the region."

"The Iraqi government adopts this policy and seeks to open the prospect of trade cooperation with all countries," he said.

"Joining the TIR will provide an area for linking with customs systems and creating ports to meet the needs of trucks," he said. "Iraq will be a transit between countries in addition to the trade process."
