German Defense Minister Ursula von der Lien on Friday called on European countries to support the federal government headed by Adel Abdul Mahdi and the three main components, as well as the Yezidi Kurds, in the reconstruction of liberated areas from the grip of a pro-Iraqi organization in Iraq.
"Our mission is continuing in Syria and Iraq to eliminate the unorganized organization," von der Lin said in a speech at the Munich International Security Conference. "Our focus should shift from purely military effort to humanitarian effort and reconstruction."
"The formation of the new government in Iraq is a good thing, but together we must support this government in the reconstruction file, and support all groups that fought an advocate of Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis to play an active role in the political work in the country."
"Even Yezidis should have a share in the reconstruction of their areas," von der Lin said, noting that "in this way we can achieve peace in Iraq."

The start of the Munich Security Conference with an Arab presence
http://alforatnews.com/modules/news/article.php?storytopic=43&storyid=188554
2019/2/15
[ltr]{International: Al Furat News} The events of the 55th edition of the Munich Security Conference took place in Germany on Friday, amidst an impressive Arab presence.[/ltr]
[ltr]The conference, one of the most important forums dealing with international and regional security issues, will continue until Sunday 17 February.
This year's conference will address issues related to the global political situation, security and defense, as well as current wars and crises in the world, including the BRICEST agreement, the sovereign crisis in Venezuela and the growing conflicts in Syria and eastern Ukraine.
The Munich Security Institute, headed since 2008 by former diplomat Wolfgang Eichiger, has prepared a 100-page report on the global situation and points to be consulted at the conference.
In its report, the organization pointed out the gravity of the situation on the level of relations between the major powers in the world. Between America and China, there is fierce competition over economic and trade issues, not to mention the anticipation of the geopolitical competition between Moscow and Beijing and the arms conflict between Moscow and Washington.
The report shows that the European Union's willingness to compete with major powers does not have an alternative plan that allows Europe to rely on itself in terms of security. He also noted that Washington and Moscow are not expected to extend the so-called "START START" agreement on strategic nuclear weapons after the end of 2021.
The BRICEST process tops the agenda of the conference this year, as well as the files of the "surge of the extreme populist movement in Europe", "the EU defense itself" and "trans-Atlantic cooperation".
The conference is also expected to discuss the future of EU security policies, issues related to Russia and Ukraine, the Middle East and China, as well as cyber wars and the effects of climate change.
The agenda of the conference is expected to be topped by the issues of trade wars, the relationship between trade policies and security, the effects of technological innovations on security, and the conference to hold bilateral meetings between the parties involved.
The conference will be attended by heads of 35 countries and governments, more than 50 foreign ministers, 30 defense ministers, as well as directors of international companies, academics and representatives of civil society organizations.
At the level of leaders and leaders of countries, the three-day conference will be attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the Emir of Qatar, Tamim Bin Hamad, and the Presidents of Egypt, Romania, Ukraine, Rwanda and Afghanistan.
Participants include EU Commissioner for Security and Foreign Policy Federica Mugrini, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, IMF Director-General Christine Lagarde, Executive Director of the World Food Program and President of the World Economic Forum.
The conference will witness the participation of more than 600 political, economic, security and social figures, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations such as Amnesty International, Transparency International, Greenpeace and the arms industry.
On the eve of the Munich Conference, the German authorities took extensive security measures around the perimeter of the Hotel Bayer Scherer Hoover, the venue of the conference, and closed the roads leading to it.
The German police allocated 4,500 personnel to provide security and protection to visitors, supported by more than 200 soldiers.
On Saturday, protests and demonstrations by left-wing anti-NATO groups are expected to take place in the area around the conference.
In 1963, the first edition of the Munich Security Conference, the International Military Science Forum, was launched. It was then described as a "transatlantic family meeting," given that the participants were limited to Germany, the United States and NATO countries only.
From 1994, the conference changed to "Munich Security Policy Conference" and from 2008, the Munich Security Conference.
The first edition of the Conference saw only limited participation of 60 officials, while the Conference attracted more attention as of 1999, with the participation of representatives from Eastern Europe, India, Japan and China.
The annual conference is the highlight of an international conference on security policies[/ltr]

Munich security conference .. Western alliances in the wind
https://www.mawazin.net/Details.aspx?jimare=34293
Baghdad - Mawazine News
The global security tensions are at the top of the agenda of the Munich Security Conference, which will start on Friday, with the participation of more than 30 heads of state and government and 80 ministers of defense and foreign affairs, known for his frank and behind-the-scenes diplomacy.
NATO Secretary-General Jans Stoltenberg said he would hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the conference in a bid to salvage the medium- and short-term nuclear arms reduction treaty.
The Munich Security Conference was used as a meeting point across the Atlantic, but with the launch of its 55th session, it is threatening to be a prelude to divorce between major international poles.
Global security tensions are at the forefront of Munich, with increasing disparities within the Western alliance, with many dramatic developments since the last session, which are overshadowed by the current conference.
According to security experts, Washington's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement, the medium- and short-term nuclear power treaty with Russia, as well as the growing tension between NATO and Moscow, as well as the Sino-US trade dispute, are barbed files at the top of this year's agenda.
For their part, many Europeans question the insistence of US officials that Washington remains committed to NATO as the gap between Trump and NATO widens and Washington threatens to withdraw from NATO unless member states meet their defense commitments.
In the context, Belgium and Germany are trying to determine the intentions of the United States on arms control after its decision to abandon the medium and short-term nuclear missile treaty.
The Europeans fear a new nuclear arms race on the continent and hope that Washington will make guarantees to avoid it, after Russia's withdrawal from the treaty and the threat of comprehensive measures to ensure its security.
The other European concern is how to reconcile the pursuit of trade relations with China and the growing dispute between Washington and Beijing in trade and technology.
The official program of the three-day security conference this year warns of a new era threatening the world because of heated competition between superpowers such as the United States, China and Russia, and what he calls the leadership vacuum in the West. It seems that last year's call from Munich to the world to stay away from the brink has Has largely disappeared.
US charges
US Vice President Mike Bens, who heads the US delegation, set the course for the conference in Warsaw on Thursday when he accused Britain, France and Germany of trying to violate US sanctions on Iran and demanded it withdraw from a nuclear deal with Tehran in 2015.
But unlike Warsaw, In Munich, and there will be Foreign Minister and senior diplomats from Russia and China - in addition to the defense ministers of the three European countries that maintain the nuclear agreement.
