The Economic Advisor to the Emiri Diwan Dr. Youssef Al-Ibrahim stressed the importance of good governance and the application of transparency in the development of evidence-based economic policies. During a panel discussion organized by the International Monetary Fund's Center for Economics and Finance in the Middle East and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, And the transparency of the Arab world », the main economic policies that the Arab world needs to implement in order to strengthen economic cooperation between their countries, indicating the steps necessary to strengthen public sector institutions, especially in the country N affected by the conflict. 
For his part, the Director of the Department of Statistics and Chief Statistician and data officials at the International Monetary Fund, Dr. Louis Mark Ducharm, the importance of providing data that respects transparency and quality and modernity to good governance.
He highlighted the intrinsic nature of data quality and its importance in developing effective economic policies, reflecting the prospects for cooperation between the IMF and country governments in the context of improving the quality and availability of economic data to promote economic governance in the region. 
At the same time, he stressed the urgent nature of such cooperation, particularly in view of the assistance available to statisticians and economic policymakers by technological change, which allowed them to reap the benefits of substantial benefits derived from enhanced levels of transparency. 
He also highlighted the pivotal role of economic data and statistics as a public good whose quality extends many aspects of social life. It is necessary to ensure the performance of the public good for its role efficiently and the availability of statistics that everyone trusts as solid facts.
The IMF's work on capacity development and dialogue with governments has supported efforts to achieve a significant improvement in the quality of statistical data in the region, he said, adding that the Fund continues to support the Arab Statistics Initiative and the establishment of the Gulf Statistical Center. 
"The current data revolution creates opportunities for policy makers to reap the benefits of being cautious," he concluded.
