The 103rd Session of the Arab Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League on Wednesday at the level of senior officials of the Ministry of Economy in the Arab States. The meeting was chaired by Emad Bin Taleb Al Ajmi, Amman, and the participation of Ambassador Haifa Abu-Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the Arab League. 
Ambassador Abu-Ghazaleh emphasized the importance of the 103rd Session of the Economic and Social Council in the opening session of the session, as it comes a few days after the conclusion of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit at its fourth session in the Republic of Lebanon, which issued a number of important decisions containing important strategies and action plans.
Abu Ghazaleh explained that in implementing these decisions, a better life for the Arab human being will be achieved and the Arab efforts to implement the sustainable development plan 2030 will be pushed forward, stressing that this requires great effort and support from the Council as the supervisor of all mechanisms of joint economic and social development. The League of Arab States in coordination with its member states to achieve the desired development. 
Cooperation with civil society organizations, the private sector, United Nations specialized agencies and regional and international partners was also needed, noting that the Secretariat of the Arab League had already begun to take a number of actions to implement the outcome of this important Summit. Ambassador Abu-Ghazaleh added that the topics on the agenda of the 103rd Session of the Economic and Social Council constitute an update to these efforts and in the context of advancing the economic and social development of the Arab States.
The preparation of the economic and social file of the Council of the League of Arab States at its thirtieth session, to be held in the Republic of Tunisia next March, is one of the main issues before the Council today, through the proposals and perceptions of the Ministerial Councils and specialized organizations. The follow-up to the decisions of the Arab-African Summit and the preparations for the fifth session to be held in Riyadh at the end of this year are of particular importance given the importance of enhancing Arab-African cooperation through the elaboration of the joint work plan between the two sides, Development in the two regions, and to promote common positions in international forums. 
She said that Arab international cooperation comes in the same context as one of the complementary items to enhance Arab cooperation with all partners.
Abu-Ghazaleh stressed that it is necessary at the Arab-Arab level to continue the efforts of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, follow up the developments of the Arab Customs Union, follow-up the implementation of the sustainable Arab agricultural development strategy and the Executive Plan of the Arab Emergency Food Security Program. As one of the important Arab initiatives in this field. 
She stressed that all these issues, as adopted by the Fourth Development Summit, are important axes that require intensive effort in close cooperation with all the forces of society. The UAE participated in the meetings of the 103 th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council at the ministerial level, which was held yesterday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo. The delegation was represented on behalf of Eng. The delegation included Mohamed Saleh Shalawah, Advisor to the Minister of Economy and a number of Ministry of Economy officials. 
Joint action
Eng. Mohammed Ahmed Bin Abdul Aziz Al Shehhi stressed that joint Arab action, especially on the economic and social level, is becoming increasingly important, especially in this period in which the global economy is facing challenges that cast a shadow over the Arab economies, which necessitates further Arab economic cooperation and strengthening trade and economic ties. Between Arab countries and the strengthening of intra-regional trade and investment.
Al-Shehhi pointed out that the agenda and items of the meeting increased the importance of the current session of the Council. The theme of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the developments of the Arab Customs Union were the focus of the current session of the Council, in addition to the investment issue. One of the aspects of joint Arab cooperation, in addition to reviewing the economic and social issue to be addressed by the Arab summit at its 30th regular session, which will be hosted by Tunisia in March. 
The agenda 
included the agenda of the current session of the Council of 20 items including »11« economically item and »9« social items constitute the majority of the economic and social profile , which will be presented to the Arab summit in Tunis next month.
The Committee discussed important items, foremost of which is the completion of the Arab economic integration paths and tracks, the completion of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area and the requirements for the establishment of the unified Arab customs union, which is the focus of the 103rd Session of the Economic and Social Council. The Council discussed the issue of the liberalization of commodity trade between Arab countries, Amended to regulate transit transport between Arab countries, the Convention on Customs Cooperation and the liberalization of trade in services.
The investment portfolio in the Arab countries is a high priority on the agenda of the Council, especially since investment is the mainstay of economic development in the Arab world. This issue has been discussed in all its aspects, especially the preparation of a new Arab investment agreement that takes into account all economic developments in the world, And the digital and knowledge economy where the world of investment witnessed many developments and great, and therefore the Council considered the amendment of the Arab unified agreement for the investment of Arab capital, which was approved at the Arab Summit for Development in Riyadh in 2013, A new partnership that takes into account the modern principles and objectives of investment and economic development as well as the goals of sustainable development adopted by the Arab States. 
Decisions
The meeting also discussed the development of the investment climate in the Arab countries, and the conference of Arab employers and investors to be held during the second half of this year in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as well as many other vital topics. 
The Council also continued to implement the decisions of the Arab-African Summit held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, in November 2016, especially with regard to economy and trade, stressing that African countries represent a strategic depth for the Arab countries. 
The Council also followed the implementation of the Riyadh Declaration issued by the Fourth Arab and South American Summit held in Riyadh in November 2015, stressing the importance of Arab cooperation with the South American countries within the framework of the cooperation mechanism adopted since the first summit held in 2005 in Brazil. To continue this momentum to promote cooperation to serve the economic, trade and political objectives of both sides.
The Council also followed the decisions of the Arab Development Summit at its fourth session, hosted by the Lebanese capital Beirut in January. 
Environment 
Discussed the amendment of the statute of the Council of Arab Ministers responsible for the environment, and follow-up the progress in the implementation of the Arab sustainable agricultural development strategy for the decade 2005-2021, as well as follow-up implementation of the implementation plan for the Arab Emergency Food Security Program in its second phase 2017-2021.

Al-Salami said that the Arab Parliament is holding this meeting in appreciation and support for the Sudan and its noble people and to support the just demand of the Republic of Sudan to lift the name of Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism since 1993. He pointed out that "the 29th Summit" The Arab Parliament requested all concerned Arab parties to provide all necessary support to the Arab Parliament and enable it to move at all levels to implement its plan. The memorandum concluded that the Republic of Sudan has implemented the entire five tracks plan agreed upon with the United States of America on combating terrorism, In the State of Southern Sudan, the promotion of human rights, the provision of humanitarian assistance and the treatment of situations in conflict zones and areas in need in the Sudan, and the program included Arab, regional and international accolades of the progress made by the State of Sudan in these areas. 
For his part, Ibrahim Ahmed Omar, President of the Sudanese National Council said in his speech during the hearing that Sudan condemns terrorism in all its forms and does everything in its power to fight it and uproot its root causes at the internal level or in cooperation with neighboring countries and its Arab and African surroundings and the world in general. 
The Sudanese National Council Speaker said that his country "is not only talking about fighting terrorism, but is actually doing well." He reviewed the steps taken by Sudan in combating terrorism and communicating with the concerned parties, noting the measures taken by the Sudanese National Council through the issuance of strict anti-terrorism legislation and laws "He said. 
The speakers of the Arab parliaments and parliaments, or their representatives, and the representatives of the regional and international associations, parliaments and parliaments, the Permanent Representatives of the Arab States to the League of Arab States, the ambassadors of the permanent members of the UN Security Council in Cairo, the African Union Representative and the European Union representative agreed on the importance of supporting Sudan's graduation from the list of supporting countries Of terrorism and its support in advancing its reality. 
The meeting resulted in a statement of solidarity with Sudan and was removed from the list of state sponsors of terrorism was signed by participants in the hearing. 
The statement stressed the "right of the Republic of the Sudan to fully engage in the international community and to restore its political and economic integration at all levels of Arab, regional and international as a large and pivotal country and the need for the international community to benefit from the efforts and possibilities and initiatives of Sudan regionally and internationally to confront phenomena that threaten regional and international security.
