Basra Governorate Council announced on Sunday, the allocation of 400 billion dinars to complete the port of Faw, noting that the port provides 50 thousand jobs for the people of Basra.
"The government allocated 400 billion dinars from the budget of 2019 to complete the port of Faw, especially the sidewalks and infrastructure and yards and cargo and unloading," said a member of the Commission on the border crossings in the Council Mortada al-Shammani.
He added that "the port in the event of completion will provide 50 thousand jobs for the people of Basra in the docks and ports of unloading and shipping," adding that "will return large financial returns to the central government and the province of Basra."
He explained that "the port of Faw, if completed, is the first in the Gulf and the Middle East in terms of spaces and the reception of ships and vessels."
