The leader of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, said on Sunday that the agreement signed between Iraq and Jordan is "good".

"The agreement signed between Iraq and Jordan is good, which is a step forward to deepen the relationship between the two brotherly countries, albeit late," Allawi said in a statement to the news agency.

Allawi said that "the lesson lies in the implementation and completion of the mechanisms necessary for success," he said.

On Saturday, Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi met with Jordanian Prime Minister Omar al-Razaz, accompanied by two high-level delegations.

A statement issued by the office of Abdul Mahdi said that the meeting aims to "put an agreement on cooperation and exchange of interests between the two countries to enter into force and the opening of the joint industrial zone and the implementation of the joint agreement signed in Baghdad on 29/12/2018."
