MP Mohammed Shi'a al-Sudani, on Sunday, a request to discuss the implementation of the draft port of Faw in parliament. 

"We submitted a signed request from 28 deputies to discuss the implementation of the project of the port of Faw in one of the sessions of the Parliament and in the presence of specialists from the Ministry of Transport and the Investment Authority and to establish a specific time frame in which the government is obliged to implement for its importance. Economic development in creating great opportunities for real development and address the unemployment and poverty suffered by Iraq and also contributes to the strengthening of economic relations with the countries of the world. "

"Any delay in the implementation of the project will give the neighboring countries the opportunity to consider the implementation and implementation of similar projects, which will affect the feasibility and vitality of the project of the port of Faw," he said. 

He added that a study prepared by an Italian company dealt with the importance of selecting the location of the project and the specifications of the port. It also referred to the dry canal project, stressing the necessity of establishing it to join Iraq as a future route for international trade. Attract foreign investment and promote foreign trade. " 

He pointed out that "a lot of talk and promises have been mentioned through previous governments," noting that "has been assigned to a ministerial committee with the Ministry of Transport and the Investment Authority and the Board of Advisors, has completed the Commission to negotiate with the companies advanced to implement the project either through investment or direct implementation.

He added that "the committee has made several recommendations and views on the sovereign guarantees required by the state," referring to "the role of the Ministry of Transport, which began to implement the project through the establishment of the breakwater of the East and West." 

Al-Sudani stressed the importance of implementing the project because it represents an important national economic and social interest because it will provide employment opportunities and reduce poverty. Today, Iraq needs to establish such vital and important projects.
