Trump: Trade talks with China is very good

08 Jan 2019 04:58 PM

Direct: US President Donald Trump expressed optimism about the ongoing trade talks between the United States and China.
"The talks with China are going very well," the US president said in a tweet via the social networking site Twitter.
Beijing and Washington began trade talks on Monday and continue today in hopes of ending the differences between the world's two largest economies.
On the weekend, the US president said a deal could be reached with China, noting that the slowdown in China's economy was driving Beijing to a trade deal.
"The economic data looks good," Trump said. "Can you imagine if long-term interest rates are zero, as was the case with the previous administration, rather than the high rates we see today?"
The US president said that would make the economic figures very good but pointed out that the markets are still high since the 2016 elections.
The US president has repeatedly attacked the Federal Reserve's rate hike because he believes that rising borrowing costs are undermining economic growth.
