The Minister of Oil: We will create job opportunities for young people and provide scholarships abroad


Oil Minister Thamer Abbas al-Ghadhban said on Monday that the ministry would work to create jobs for young people and provide scholarships abroad. 

"The deputy prime minister for energy, Oil Minister Thamer Abbas al-Ghadhban, received the coordination committee of oil engineering graduates in his office to listen to their requests," the office said in a statement.

He added that "the ministry is interested in the subject of appointing graduates of oil engineering in accordance with the rules and laws and instructions in force," noting that "the ministry is bound by the provisions of the federal budget, which has not yet been approved, and the ministry does not know the degree of jobs 

assigned to it within the budget, Several axes in order to provide employment opportunities, including the preparation of an electronic form containing the basic information for applicants, as well as to approach the oil companies to show the employment opportunities and specialties available. 

"The ministry will work to provide opportunities for scholarships abroad for graduates in the field of oil engineering, and will be the principle of competition among applicants, as well as provide opportunities for training and development on the precise competencies to work in the oil sector."

He added that "the demands put forward by the graduates and their demonstration is a draft approved by the Iraqi constitution," stressing that "the need to be studied by the Iraqi government and the ministry." 

And instructed "the concerned authorities in the Ministry to follow closely the implementation of these directives." 

The statement said that "the meeting was attended by the Director General of the Administrative Department and the Director of the Office of the Minister and Director of the Information Office and Director of Personnel Department in the ministry."
