A senior Iraqi official revealed that Iraq is seeking clarification from the Saudi side about the Kingdom's recent use of an oil port on the Red Sea.
"The port was built with Iraqi funds as part of an agreement between the two countries to diversify the sources of Iraqi oil exports, but it was halted after the Gulf War," the official said. "On Iraqi investments".
The project includes the extension of a strategic oil pipeline from the fields of Basra in southern Iraq, with a capacity of 1.6 million barrels per day and ends in Saudi territory at the port of Majaz, near the port of Yanbu Saudi Red Sea. The port was built according to an agreement between the two countries with Iraqi funds, Riyadh has the right to act without returning to Baghdad as the owner of the right to invest in it.
The Iraqi Ministry of Oil opened the port of Al-Majaz, and representatives of Western and local companies contributed to the completion of the project and started the export operation before the first Gulf War broke out following the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, but stopped exporting after the interruption of the Iraqi pipeline in 1990, From the port of Miracle to the southern port of Yanbu.
