General Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior Jamal al-Asadi has appointed a representative and coordinator of the offices of inspectors of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption, a government source said. 
"The Inspector-General of the Interior Ministry, Jamal al-Asadi, was chosen as the representative and coordinator of the offices of the general inspectors of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption," the source told Mawazine News. 
Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi said during the meeting of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption on Monday that the aim of restructuring the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption is to enable it to take deterrent measures and unify the efforts of regulators in the context of new work capable of confronting any party. Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Monday chaired the first meeting of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption, while stressing that the aim of restructuring the council is to enable it to take deterrent measures. 
"The first meeting of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi in the presence of the heads of the public prosecution, the judicial supervision authority, the Financial Supervision Bureau and the Integrity Commission, the Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior and a number of advisers," a statement from the Prime Minister's Office. 
"The objective of the restructuring of the Supreme Council for Combating Corruption is to enable it to take deterrent measures and unify the efforts of the supervisory bodies in the context of a new action capable of confronting any party or person whatever its position and act as a state in exposing corruption and protecting society, citizens and public money," Abdul Mahdi said.
