[size=30]KUNA) - Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi said on Sunday that the US military presence in Iraq does not diminish sovereignty, but on the contrary came at the request of the Iraqi government.
Abdul Mahdi said at a press conference that Iraqi sovereignty is not limited because of the presence of US forces in the country because it is the forces entered with the approval of the Iraqi government.
He added that the Americans had already withdrawn from Iraq in full but they returned at the request of the Iraqi government after the control of the so-called organization of the Islamic State (dodging) on a number of Iraqi cities.
Abdul-Mahdi said that the lesson in sovereignty is not the presence of foreign troops or not, but whether its presence with the consent of the sovereign state or not, pointing out that many countries in the world have foreign forces and alliances.
He stressed that there are no US military bases in Iraq, but Iraqi military bases that include American soldiers.
A number of political forces have recently criticized the US presence in Iraq.
