Will: Parliament is determined to legislate laws that protect women and human rights to assume their responsibilities

BAGHDAD /

The head of the parliamentary bloc, Hussein Arab, confirmed on Wednesday the parliament's intention to enact laws on women's rights, calling on human rights to assume their responsibilities.

"The House of Representatives is determined to legislate the laws that protect the rights of Iraqi women," Al-Arab told Al-Ghad Press. He called on human rights to take responsibility for the oppression of women and enable them to highlight their leading role.

He added that "the former House of Representatives did not highlight the laws that guarantee the rights of women," explaining that "the House of Representatives in its youth is considered an important and essential part of the House of Representatives and the legislation of laws is a legitimate and national duty."

"The House of Representatives is serious about spreading laws that protect women and we will observe a special session at its fourth session," he said.
