The Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport, Anmar Al-Khasawneh, that the Jordanian and Iraqi technical committees concerned on transport between the two countries will meet in February next to approve the date and mechanism of the introduction of Jordanian trucks directly to Iraq.
"The shipment between the two countries is still open since the opening of the Trebil crossing in August 2017 is through the unloading of cargo from Jordanian trucks to the Iraqi (back to back)," adding that "the committees will agree at its meeting on mechanisms and conditions The introduction of trucks directly into Iraq in accordance with the interests of the parties. "
Al-Khasawneh stressed that "the resumption of entry of Jordanian trucks to Iraq depends on ensuring the security and safety of its way from the border to its destinations."
The Iraqi side responded earlier to a set of observations made by Jordan in order to facilitate the movement of transport between the two countries.
According to the Ministry of Transport, at the time, the most important of these observations included procedures and delays on the border posts, procedures for unloading the load from Jordanian trucks to Iraq (back to back), as well as matters related to transport that will accompany the import of oil from Iraq.
The port of Trebil is the only crossing connecting the flow of commercial goods between the two countries, while there are other outlets, but not for those commercial operations.
The losses of the truck sector amounted to 750 million dinars, due to the loss of several markets for these trucks, including the Iraqi market as well as the Syrian, at a time when the sector includes about 21 thousand trucks, including 6 thousand trucks parked completely.
