Baghdad - Journal News

Turkey announced on Friday that its air force carried out raids on PKK positions in the northern Iraqi region of Jabal Qar Jag last night.
The Turkish Defense Ministry said in a statement that last night's raids destroyed more than 30 targets of the "Workers Party", which Ankara classifies as a terrorist organization, in Sinjar and Mount Qara Jag, about 106 km from the Turkish border.
The statement said that 20 fighters, in addition to marching aircraft, fuel planes and early warning aircraft, participated in the operation carried out in coordination with the Turkish intelligence services.
The statement stressed that the Turkish army took the necessary measures to spare civilians and the environment any damage caused by the operation.
Turkish Defense Minister Khulosi Akkar described the operation as "satisfactory and successful," pledging to continue to "fight terrorism" until it is eradicated.
