Under the patronage of the Prime Minister, Mr. Adel Abdul Mahdi, the Iraqi government has announced the national strategy to combat violence against women as part of the campaign of the United Nations 16 days of activities to combat gender-based violence launched in Iraq under the slogan "a society without violence .. 
The representative of Prime Minister Dr. Mahdi Al-Alak, Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers in his speech during the ceremony held at the Palace of Hospitality in Baghdad in the presence of First Lady of Iraq Surbag Saleh and a number of members of the House of Representatives and Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and representatives of the United Nations Population Fund and diplomatic missions and a number of civil society organizations, Iraq, that the national strategy mentioned included many decisions and legislation that took into account all the conditions suffered by Iraqi women, especially in light of the past period and violations of women due to inhuman practices committed by Nest right. 
The Secretary-General outlined the decisions and actions taken by the Government and the international strategies and commitments that Iraq has undertaken to support and protect women, notably Security Council resolution 1325, CEDAW, the Strategy for Poverty Alleviation, Violence Against Women, Gender-based Violence and other commitments. The disasters left by terrorist gangs, its crimes against women and children, the abuse of human dignity and horrendous practices not practiced in the world in advance.
For her part, Sorbag ​​appreciated the joint efforts of the legislative and executive authorities and the partners of the United Nations Population Fund and the Swedish and Norwegian embassies to manage one of the most important national documents based on important projects that will support the empowerment of women in Iraq and emerge from the crisis left by a challenging phase. In the context of the Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and continue to United Nations agencies, funds and programs to support Iraq in the fulfillment of its legal and moral obligation on the promotion and protection of women's rights at the forefront of the national strategy to combat violence against women, which is an important tool to confirm the international commitment to Iraq in Gender, including the objectives of sustainable development in different sectors.
