The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs on Sunday carried out an inspection campaign for the oil companies contracting with the Ministry of Oil on Sunday, 9122018 under the direction of Minister Bassem Abdul Zaman for the purpose of enforcing the Labor Law No. 37 of 2015.
This came after the Director General of the Department of Labor and Vocational Training, Eng. Ammar Abdul Wahid, held an expanded meeting with the Director of the Directorate of the work of Basra and the director of social security and officials of trade unions and the Federation of Industries Basra as well as labor inspectors in Basra and Sandin from the provinces of Maysan and Dhi Qar to participate in the inspection campaign.
Abdul Wahid said that the data of foreign workers in the oil companies will be checked and their legal status will be complied with to compel these companies to employ national manpower according to the percentages set by the instructions of 50%.
He added that the campaign will include all companies operating in different sectors, stressing that the ministry will impose penalties on violators to implement the law and instructions for the employment of national manpower will not allow foreign workers to work inside Iraq without obtaining a work permit from the ministry.
