[ltr]A delegation of the Iraqi government participated in the seventh session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on the Role of the OIC Member States in the Development of Women. The delegation was headed by Boshra Al-Zwaini, member of the Higher Standing Committee for the Advancement of Women.[/ltr]
[ltr]"Iraq participated in the seventh session of the ministerial conference on the role of the OIC member states in the development of women in the capital Ouagadougou of the Republic of Burkina Faso," Al-Zuwaini told Iraq News. "The Iraqi delegation presented the efforts of the Iraqi government after 2016 in the special session Including the adoption of the National Development Plan for the years 208/2022, which included two axes for empowering women in the pillar of human and social development, including education, health and economic and social empowerment.[/ltr]
[ltr]"This plan coincided with the reconstruction of areas liberated from criminal gangs with the principles contained in the three pillars of resolution 1325 (protection, prevention and participation), the creation of the Women's Empowerment Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the formation of the Higher Committee for the Advancement of the Status of Iraqi Women, Iraq and the United Nations 2018_2019 on the prevention and response to sexual violence related to conflicts through, inter alia, improving services for survivors and ensuring accountability for perpetrators. [ltr]"Iraq is about to submit its report on the implementation of resolution 1324 to the Security Council after approval in the coming weeks in the Iraqi Council of Ministers," said Dou.[/ltr]
[ltr]The Organization of Islamic Cooperation in its seventh session has approved the efforts of Iraq to contain the refugees in Syria similar to other host country of refugees after the request of the Iraqi delegation to acknowledge his efforts in this aspect, this came through Iraq's accession to one of the most important committees emanating from the Conference.[/ltr]
