I am wondering if once the market rate hits the CBI official rate of 1190 is that when we see the REER and the deletion of the zeros? Based on Delta’s post today they are on a course of collision in the next 3-4 days if the pattern continues. ……Could be interesting.

Washington: Bill to punish those who threaten the security of Iraq

28 November, 2018

The US House of Representatives passed a bill Tuesday demanding that the US administration impose sanctions on terrorist organizations and countries that threaten Iraq's security and stability, led by Iran.

The bill stipulates that the US president should identify individuals and groups in Iraq that should be included in the list of terrorist organizations and impose sanctions on them, as well as submit a report to Congress detailing these groups.

The bill also imposes on the US State Department a list of armed organizations supported by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards.

The sanctions range from freezing funds and resources to not granting visas to enter the United States and canceling any previous visas.

The Senate should also approve a copy of the draft before it is sent to the White House

Jafar Talafari: The Kuwaiti Archive .. Iraq is still paying the price

27th November, 2018

Although Iraq completed this month handing over about two tonnes of documents it seized from Kuwait 27 years ago, but an official said the Kuwaiti National Archives were still missing.

Successive Iraqi governments have affirmed their commitment to extraordinary efforts to provide progress in the missing files and the Kuwaiti archives, and to meet with witnesses to determine the fate of missing Kuwaitis and nationals of other countries

The fate of hundreds of Kuwaiti citizens remains unknown since the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait in 1990. The National Archives of Kuwait also looted during the occupation

The payment of Iraqi compensation was suspended in 2014 after the invasion of an organization advocating vast areas in Iraq, but resumed later. Baghdad is due to hand over 0.5% of its oil revenues in 2018, rising annually until the end of 2021 to pay $ 4.6 billion still owed to Kuwait

The Iraqi embassy in Kuwait announced last week that Iraq handed over the Kuwaiti side 136 micro-film from the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Yawm

The Iraqi ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammed Hussein Bahr al-Ulum, said in an interview that "Iraq delivered 136 micro-film from the archives of the Kuwaiti newspaper today to the Kuwaiti side," noting that "the handover took place in the presence of the United Nations representative in Iraq

He added that "Iraq has previously referred to some of the coins of the Central Bank and the returns of some Kuwaiti government departments, such as the archives of Kuwait Radio and national television

He said that "one of the provisions of UN resolution 833 provides for the return of private property and missing persons belonging to Kuwait, which was lost during the invasion of Saddam Hussein's regime of Kuwait," adding that "Iraq is working seriously to meet its obligations to Kuwait

Earlier, Arab media quoted diplomats as proposing to activate international judicial cases that would stop the indefinite "charge" even if financial compensation was paid, a charge of stealing the Kuwaiti archives

The diplomats promised to search for something called the Kuwaiti archives is absurd and impossible to achieve, and it is unfair to pursue the charge more than an Iraqi generation that is not guilty of what happened. In the view of those that it is no longer useful to hold the Iraqi people responsible for what happened only if they considered that the Iraqis and Saddam Hussein is one part

Iraq seized the documents during its seven-month occupation of Kuwait, which ended in the Gulf War in 1991. UN officials said the two countries had completed the handover and handover that began on the border nine days ago. But a Kuwaiti official involved in the extradition said the documents did not include treaties signed in the 20th century, official Amiri Diwan documents or Crown Prince's documents and other documents contained in the National Archives

The head of the UN-sponsored extradition process, Richard Foran, said he had not lodged an official complaint from Kuwait, adding that the role of the United Nations did not include examining documents

Kuwait wants Iraq to hand over the property it has looted, but the main demand is the return of about 600 people, most of them Kuwaitis who have disappeared since the Gulf War when the United States led an alliance to oust Iraqi forces from the country

Iraq says it has no information about the missing and offered to open its prisons to the Kuwaitis to prove they are not being held. But Yuli Vorontsov, the UN envoy responsible for the conflict, said Iraq was holding them prisoner and insisted their release should be on the next agenda

Iraq has been subject to Article VII of the United Nations Charter, which was imposed after the invasion of the regime of former President Saddam Hussein to Kuwait in August of the same year, and allowed the item to use force against Iraq as a threat to international security, in addition to freezing large amounts of financial assets In the international banks to pay compensation to those affected by the invasion of Kuwait

Kuwait had asked the UN Security Council in July 2009 before its meeting to discuss Iraq's international obligations not to lift Iraq from the list of Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations before fulfilling all its obligations, especially in the cases of compensation and prisoners and missing Kuwaitis, stressing the need for Iraq to respect resolution 833 Demarcation of the border between Iraq and Kuwait, after the Iraqi objections that appear from time to time on the demarcation of the border, and then reiterated the same demands by a number of Kuwaiti deputies

And the file of border disputes and oil between Iraq and Kuwait, began after Britain decided in 1961 to grant independence to Kuwait, and the refusal of the late Prime Minister Abdul Karim Qasim to recognize it, and then called for the annexation of Kuwait to the province of Basra, despite the recognition of the Iraqi government, 1963, after the overthrow of the regime of Abdul Karim Kassem, independence of Kuwait, a deal mentioned by some historians that it was in exchange for giving the Iraqi government money because of the deficit suffered, but the former President Saddam Hussein, who belongs to the same party, decided on the second of August 1990 to invade Kuwait on Background on Problems Dodd and draw it and the conflict on some oil wells LINK
