Parliamentary Finance: We submitted 47 amendments in the budget of 2019, most notably the benefits of Basra and Kurdistan

BAGHDAD (

Reuters) - The committee proposed inserting and changing 47 paragraphs of the federal budget for 2019, the most prominent of which are the benefits of Basra and the share of the Kurdistan region, pointing out the continuation of meetings on the budget amendments, a member of the parliamentary finance committee Ahmad Hama Rashid said Sunday.

"The parliamentary finance met with the government committee formed to review the budget of 2019, which gave us changes in the budget, after we put forward several new ideas during our meeting with the government committee," Rashid said in a statement to Al-Ghad Press.

He pointed out that "the Parliamentary Finance Committee provided 47 paragraphs to the governmental committee, most notably the benefits of Basra and liberated areas and the benefits of the Kurdistan region and a set of materials that should not be within the budget."

"There is a proposal to adjust the proportion of the Kurdistan region from 12.6 to the percentage set by the Ministry of Planning, which is 13.92 and I am convinced of this because it is acceptable and logical."

Rashid said that "there will be continuous work and meetings and was set for tomorrow to another meeting," explaining that "the government committee took the proposals of the Finance Committee to be presented to the ministries and to discuss to find the necessary changes."

"The government committee is headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Fouad Hussein and includes a group of directors general of the ministries of planning, health, electricity and others."
