Deputy for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (Basneoz): We will not vote on the budget of 2019 without returning the share of the region to 17%

Mohammed al-Baghdadi  10/11/2018 - 12:37 News / Kurdistan

A deputy of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc in the Iraqi parliament, on Saturday, that the Kurds will not vote on the draft budget of 2019 without returning the share of the Kurdistan Region to 17%.

"The budget of 2019 as currently drafted will not be passed, and we as Kurds will not vote on the budget of 2019 without returning the constitutional share of the province to 17% instead of 12%," MP Ahmed Saffar told Basnews.

Ahmed Safar

Al-Saffar said that «Kurdish forces in the House of Representatives will work in all legal ways to restore the right of the territory and its people and lift the marginalization of him, and will work to implement the provisions of the Constitution according to the law and not according to the whims and political trends».

The caretaker government headed by Haider al-Abadi has approved the draft federal budget law for the year 2019, a few days before the formation of the new government, which sent the draft to parliament for approval.

However, the project received objections from the Kurds as it identified the share of the region less than 13%, as well as objections from the Sunni and Shiite blocs.
