A MEETING WAS HELD TO DISCUSS THE DRAFT GOVERNMENT READINESS REVIEW REPORT FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

A bilateral meeting was held on 27/9/2018 at the Ministry of Planning in the presence of Deputy Minister of Planning Dr.Mahmar Hammad Johan and a number of Directors General of the Ministry with the working team of this office to review the readiness of the government to achieve the goals of sustainable development.

The participants reviewed the draft report reviewing the government's readiness for sustainable development objectives, which includes actions and steps taken by the Iraqi government to achieve the international agenda, including the formation of the National Commission for Sustainable Development and the specialized teams in Baghdad and the governorates and the formation of follow-up cell and the issuance of related plans and strategies, including poverty reduction strategy and national development plan In the light of which the efforts of the Bureau in the next phase will focus on auditing and reviewing the projects related to achieving the objectives contained in those plans and strategies.

The Undersecretary expressed thanks to the efforts exerted by the team to highlight the role played by the ministry and the concerned authorities in the field of voluntary compliance with development goals. The Ministry representatives expressed their support for most of the draft report and provided clarifications and observations in the light of which the report will be issued.



Iraq has taken serious steps in its voluntary commitment to sustainable development goals endorsed by the United Nations.
